Team building and 2023 New year get-together at LADEC

From the 26 to the 27 of January 2023, LADEC organised in Bujumbura, at ‘Site touristique « La beauté du paysage »’, a framework for the exchange of 2023 wishes coupled with a self-assessment of its 2022 achievements while projecting itself into 2023. The aim was twofold: to evaluate and to celebrate. In addition, LADEC can boast about the success achieved in 2022 mainly in two projects, which are:

  1. The land certification project contained in the Government of Burundi's programme called: Burundi Landscape Restoration and Resilience Project (PRRPB) funded by the World Bank. This component implemented by the IGNFI/GEOFIT and LADEC Group has had unbeatable success in the communes of: Isare/Bujmbura, Buhinyuza/Muyinga and Matongo/Kayanza, notably in the support to the creation and functioning of communal land services as well as in the conduct of Grouped Operations Recognition (OGR) in these communes. Qualitatively and quantitatively satisfactory and gender-sensitive results were obtained with a large territorial coverage: 12 ‘collines’ in Buhinyuza, 10 hills in Isare, and 4 in Matongo commune were completely covered.

  1. The "Prevention and Resolution of Land Conflicts" project, financed by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Burundi, has achieved a great deal and has succeeded in setting up a collection of case law on land issues, a first in Burundi. This is a first in Burundi. It consists of model judgments in land matters collected, analysed, selected and commented on by Burundian legal experts and high magistrates. This collection of land jurisprudence was created thanks to the combined efforts of LADEC and the Supreme Court of Burundi.

The Managing Director of LADEC pointed out that it is thanks to the efforts of each and every staff member and collaborators of LADEC that such achievements have been possible and will be in the future. He therefore called on everyone to do the same, or even more, for 2023 and beyond.

This framework of exchange of wishes was a great opportunity for all LADEC staff and members to meet and themes were developed and debated, namely, "The place of Human Resources (HR) in organisational development", "Gender Sensitivity and Prevention of Exploitation, Harassment and Sexual Abuse in the Workplace".

The participants of these two days thanked LADEC for what it really is in their daily lives and for the Burundian society. On its part, LADEC, through its Managing Director, promised to always do better to achieve its vision, which is to "to contribute to building a prosperous, peaceful and just society, through equitable access to resources and development opportunities".

In an atmosphere of joy, the two days were exclusively dedicated to team building at LADEC and were also an opportunity to demonstrate the talents of each other through sports and fun games. From jogging, to weight training, basketball, beach volleyball to sack races, ... the people who took part in the event immersed themselves in an unprecedented de-stressing and committed themselves to creating, as regularly as possible, this kind of occasion that is so constructive to professional and social relations.
